Presented within the style of a specimen in combination with its vinyl counterpart, The standard language manual is the creation of a new written language to fit the climate of the world in 2050. By 2050 schools have been introducing progressive type, meaning calligraphy is no longer being taught.
As writing through dictation is set to be the new standard, this new phonetic written language has been formed using sound waves. Each letterform is created from a frequency using musical notes that creates a neutral outcome for each sound wave, as factors such as accents and pitch will not create a bias. The language is visualised as phonemes which create 45 characters, making the type truly phonetic. SLM uses a continuous writing pattern based on a centre-point line. Every vowel is to be written above the centre, alongside every constant which is to be written below. This helps with the legibility of the characters and kerning as well as mimicking the flow of traditional calligraphy.
